How to search
Use company search with jurisdictionCode: "no". Pass a name as companyName or a registration number as companyNumber. companyNumber is read as organisasjonsnummer.

Company identifiers
A registration number sent as companyNumber is matched against the searchable schemes below; you do not name the scheme. All of them can appear in a company’s identifiers.

Identifier notes
- Company lookup resolves only the parent (hovedenhet) organisation number. Enhetsregisteret keeps sub-units (underenheter) in a separate register, so a sub-unit or branch organisation number returns not found, not the parent company's data.
- A company's VAT number appears in its identifiers only while it is registered for VAT, and can disappear from later responses if it deregisters. Use the organisation number, which never changes, as the stable identifier.
- Individual (non-corporate) shareholders are identified at most by full name and year of birth, never a full date of birth or a national ID. Two shareholders with the same name and birth year cannot be told apart.

| ENK and NUF register no roles | ENK sole proprietorships and NUF foreign branches are not required to register management roles, so their officers/representatives section is normally empty. |
| Every role holder is listed | legalRepresentatives lists every registered role holder (CEOs, board chairs, ordinary board members, auditors, secretaries, accountants, bankruptcy administrators/trustees), not just people who can sign for the company. Tell them apart by role description, not position. |
| Historical extract is names only | The Historical Register Extract carries only current and former registered names with effective dates, not address changes, former officers or other past events. |
| Over 250 shareholders returns largest | For companies with more than 250 registered shareholders, the shareholder lookup returns the 250 largest holdings, flagged as largest holdings only, and sums the remaining holders into one entry per share class. |
Glossary
