How to search
Use company search with jurisdictionCode: "it". Pass a name as companyName or a registration number as companyNumber. companyNumber is read as rea.
Fields
An advancedQuery for Italy accepts these fields:

Other accepted field combinations: partitaIva, name + partitaIva and cciaa + name.
Search notes
- If rea is sent with name or partitaIva, only the REA lookup runs and the other fields are ignored.
- If partitaIva is sent with name, the name is ignored and the VAT number alone drives an exact lookup.
- The cciaa filter also applies as a geographic filter to a partitaIva search, not only to a name search.
- Every name search is a partial match that returns registered offices only; branches and other local units are left out. It cannot be made exact.
- A name search takes 2 to 50 characters. A longer name is rejected, not shortened, so search a distinctive part of it.
Company identifiers
A registration number sent as companyNumber is matched against the searchable schemes below; you do not name the scheme. All of them can appear in a company’s identifiers.

Identifier notes
- A REA number is unique only within the provincial Chamber of Commerce (CCIAA) that issued it; other chambers reuse the same sequence number. A REA number cited without its CCIAA code does not identify a single company.
- A Partita IVA match resolves to the company's CCIAA (Chamber of Commerce) and REA number, and that pair, not the VAT number, determines the identifier. A lookup by REA or by Partita IVA returns the same record.
- Codice Fiscale (the Italian tax code) has no search field of its own: search accepts REA, Partita IVA or company name. A company's Codice Fiscale is usually the same 11-digit number as its Partita IVA, but the two can differ. An individual's is a 16-character alphanumeric code; sent as the company name, it is looked up as a tax code.

Order a document by its shortcut, for example annual_accounts. The other filings differ per company: call list documents first and order the ID it returns.

| Status word is the activity flag | The status word says whether the business is declared as operating, not what the company legally is: a company in liquidation or under an insolvency procedure can still read attiva. The normalised status and the active flag follow the procedure the register lists as in progress, so an attiva company can be closing and not active. The procedure and its registration date are returned as a status event. Search results carry only the status word, so the same company can read active in a search and closing in its report. |
| Sole proprietor is the owner | A sole proprietorship (IMPRESA INDIVIDUALE) has no shareholder filing. Ownership requests return the proprietor (TITOLARE FIRMATARIO) from the company report as sole 100% owner. |
| Historic section omits signing rules | Companies that exist only in the register's superseded historic section return a report of their last known state, with name, legal form and registered details but no representation/signing rules. |
| Two schemes share a code space | Business-activity codes come under two classification schemes that share a four-digit code space but disagree on what a code means: code 25.40 is metal forging under the current scheme and weapons/ammunition under the prior one. Read each code together with the scheme it is tagged with. |
| ISO 5009 covers four forms | GLEIF's Italian role-code list covers only S.p.A., S.r.l., S.n.c. and società semplice, so officers of an accomandita, cooperativa, consorzio or fondazione have no ISO 5009 organisational-role code. |
| Feminine role wording | An officer's role may appear in the feminine form (e.g. CONSIGLIERA, PRESIDENTESSA, SOCIA, PROCURATRICE) instead of the masculine reference form. The raw field keeps that wording; the translated name and role code map to the same office. |

SCIOGLIMENTO E LIQUIDAZIONE | Dissolution and liquidation: a formal winding-up is under way. It is the wording of a registered procedure, returned on a status event with its registration date, not a status word. |
