How to use Kausate in Russian Federation — what you can call, which identifiers it uses, and which documents you can order
New to the API? Start with the jurisdictions overview, which explains how ordering, identifiers and documents work everywhere.
Company data here comes directly from ЕГРЮЛ / ЕГРИП (Unified State Registers of Legal Entities and Individual Entrepreneurs) and GIR BO.

How to search
Start with company search and jurisdictionCode: "ru". Pass the name as companyName, a registration number as companyNumber, or both to narrow the result. Here companyNumber is read as ogrn.
Fields
To say exactly what you mean, send an advancedQuery instead. Russian Federation understands these fields:
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
name | Company name (Cyrillic only). |
ogrn | 13-digit OGRN for a Russian legal entity. |
ogrnip | 15-digit OGRNIP for a Russian sole proprietor. |
inn | Russian INN (10 digits for legal entities, 12 for individuals). |
Examples
{ "jurisdictionCode": "ru", "advancedQuery": { "name": "СБЕРБАНК" }}Russian Federation also accepts ogrn, inn and ogrnip.
Company identifiers
Search by passing the registration number as companyNumber — it is matched against the schemes this register can search on, so you do not name the scheme yourself. Not every scheme below is searchable; the rest label the values returned in a company’s identifiers.
| Identifier | Appears as | Format |
|---|---|---|
| OGRN Russian Primary State Registration Number for legal entities (Основной государственный регистрационный номер) — 13 digits encoding sign, year, region, serial, and check digit (e.g., 1027700132195 for PAO Sberbank) | ru_ogrn | ^\d{13}$ |
| OGRNIP Russian Primary State Registration Number for individual entrepreneurs (ОГРНИП) — 15 digits | ru_ogrnip | ^\d{15}$ |
| INN Russian Taxpayer Identification Number (Идентификационный номер налогоплательщика) — 10 digits for legal entities, 12 digits for individuals/sole proprietors. Digits 1-2 encode the issuing region | ru_inn | ^(\d{10}|\d{12})$ |
| KPP Russian Tax Registration Reason Code (Код причины постановки на учет) — 9 digits identifying a specific tax office. Not unique to a legal entity (one company may hold multiple KPPs across branches) | ru_kpp | ^\d{9}$ |
| GIR BO Organization ID Internal numeric organization id used by the GIR BO financial-statements service — required to fetch BFO records | ru_bo_org_id | ^\d+$ |
Identifier notes
- A Russian legal entity's OGRN (Primary State Registration Number) is a structured 13-digit code — a registration-type flag, the two-digit registration year, a regional code, a sequential serial number, and a check digit, concatenated with no separators. Treat it as an opaque, validated identifier rather than decoding individual fields out of it yourself.
- OGRNIP is a separate 15-digit numbering scheme issued only to individual entrepreneurs (sole proprietors) — it is not a longer variant of the 13-digit OGRN used for legal entities. The two are different identifier spaces for different kinds of registrants.
- The INN (tax identification number) is 10 digits for a legal entity and 12 digits for an individual, including a sole proprietor. The digit count itself tells you what kind of record you're looking at.
- The KPP (tax-registration checkpoint code) is not unique to a company. A legal entity is issued a separate 9-digit KPP for its head office and for each branch or other tax-registration reason, so the same OGRN can appear alongside more than one KPP. Don't treat KPP as a stable one-to-one company identifier the way you would OGRN or INN.

Local notes
Gotchas
| Trap | What happens |
|---|---|
| Cyrillic search only | Company search only works with Russian-language (Cyrillic) text. Searching with a Latin-script transliteration of a company name returns no results, even if that transliteration is a common or official English rendering of the name — always search using the Cyrillic legal name. |
| No date of birth | Directors and executives return only full name, tax ID, and position — no date of birth, and the tax ID doesn't encode one either. |
| Findable does not mean filed | A company being found in the register (searchable, with a full report available) does not mean financial statements exist for it — the register keeps struck-off and long-dormant companies searchable indefinitely, while financial-statement coverage is comparatively recent and far from universal. Treat no financial statements as a normal, empty result rather than an error condition, and don't use a successful company lookup as a signal that financials will be present. |
| Joint-stock names the registrar | A joint-stock company's shareholders come back as one entry naming only the registrar — not a 100% owner. A sanctions-restricted company returns one placeholder entry citing the restriction, not an empty list. Check entry type before assuming a real owner. |
Glossary
| Term | Meaning |
|---|---|
Действующее | "Active" — the company is currently operating and in good standing on the register. |
Ликвидировано / Прекращение деятельности | The company has been liquidated or has otherwise ceased operating — it is closed/dissolved. |
Реорганизация | The company is undergoing a formal reorganization (such as a merger or division) rather than being in an ordinary active or closed state — treat it as a distinct status. |
Несостоятельность (банкротство) | The company is in bankruptcy proceedings. |
Доступ к сведениям ограничен | Literally "access to information is restricted" — appears in place of participant/shareholder details when a company has invoked its right, under sanctions-related disclosure law, to hide its owners from the public extract. |
исключено | Literally "excluded" — the status text shown for a company that has been struck off the register when no more specific status wording is available. |
