How to search
Use company search with jurisdictionCode: "nl". Pass a name as companyName or a registration number as companyNumber. companyNumber is read as kvkNumber.

- A very generic name matches more companies than a search returns. Use more of the company name, or search by KVK number.
Company identifiers
A registration number sent as companyNumber is matched against the searchable schemes below; you do not name the scheme. All of them can appear in a company’s identifiers.

Identifier notes
- A Dutch company record can carry up to three identifiers: the 8-digit KVK number (the registration itself), a 9-digit RSIN (the legal-entity/tax number) and a 12-digit vestigingsnummer (one specific establishment). Only the KVK number is used to build the company's Kausate identifier. Each branch has its own vestigingsnummer, while the KVK number and RSIN are the same across all branches.

| One row per establishment | A name search returns a separate row for the legal entity, the head office and each matching branch: same identifier, different establishment numbers. Group by company identifier. |
| Search returns active only | Search returns only active registrations, by name or by KVK number. A deregistered company cannot be found through search. |
| Multiple shareholders lose percentages | With more than one shareholder, names come back with a null percentage. 100% appears only for a single designated sole shareholder. |
| Capital may be issued or authorised | A shareholder report's capital amount is issued share capital, or authorised share capital when issued is not on file. The capital object's issued and authorized fields show which one it is. |
| Signing authority is Dutch prose | A legal representative's signing authority (solo or joint, plus any power-of-attorney cap) is one untranslated Dutch sentence, not structured fields. |
| Extract is written in Dutch | The Kausate-generated Handelsregister extract follows the official Dutch trade-register layout, with section headers and field labels in Dutch. |
| Officers can be companies | A director or officer can be another company. The report then shows a corporate legal representative with that other company's KVK number and RSIN, not those of the company you looked up. |
| Active is inferred | A company report's status defaults to Active when no registration end date is present, including on sparse or incomplete records. It is not confirmed trading status. |
| Group scope set only when consolidated | On annual-account filings, the entity-vs-group scope field is "group" when consolidation indicators are present and blank otherwise, never "entity". Blank does not confirm standalone figures. |

Maatschap | A professional partnership, commonly used by doctors, lawyers and other professionals who share a practice. |
Besloten vennootschap met beperkte aansprakelijkheid / Naamloze Vennootschap | The private limited company (BV) and the public limited company (NV). The original legal form is the register's full wording; the abbreviation is in the normalized legal form beside it. An NV can carry a bracketed addition such as "(blijkens statuten structuurvennootschap)", which stays in the original wording only. |
Stichting / Vereniging / Coöperatie / Eenmanszaak | A foundation, an association, a cooperative and a sole proprietorship. An association is written with its legal capacity in brackets, as in "Vereniging (met volledige rechtsbevoegdheid)". |
Vennootschap onder firma / Commanditaire vennootschap | A general partnership (VOF) and a limited partnership (CV), as they appear in the legal-form field. |
Actief / Uitgeschreven | The two raw status values: "Actief" is an active registration; "Uitgeschreven" is one deregistered (closed) from the trade register. |
Curator | In officer/role data, a court-appointed bankruptcy receiver or trustee administering an insolvent company. |
Vennoot | A partner in a general partnership (VOF), limited partnership (CV) or professional partnership (Maatschap). The officer role for these entity types, instead of "Director" or "Shareholder". |
Beherend vennoot | The managing (general) partner in a CV or VOF. A silent/limited partner (stille vennoot / commanditaire vennoot) has no management role. |
Bestuurder | A director or board member, the office that represents the company. |
Commissaris | A member of the supervisory board, which oversees the directors. |
Gevolmachtigde | The holder of a registered power of attorney (volmacht): an authorised signatory who is not a director. |
Enig aandeelhouder | The sole shareholder of a BV or NV. In a shareholder report a single such entry is reported as holding 100%. |
Bevoegdheid / Volmacht | Untranslated terms for a legal representative's signing power. "Bevoegdheid" is the general authority to represent the company (e.g. alone or jointly with others); "Volmacht" is a specific power of attorney, sometimes capped at a stated amount. |
Alleen/zelfstandig bevoegd / Gezamenlijk bevoegd | The register's wording for a representative's authority, passed through untranslated in the signing rules: authorised to act alone, and authorised only jointly with others. |
