How to use Kausate in Bulgaria — what you can call, which identifiers it uses, and which documents you can order
New to the API? Start with the jurisdictions overview, which explains how ordering, identifiers and documents work everywhere.
Company data here comes directly from Търговски регистър (Commercial Register).
What you can call here

How to search
Start with company search and jurisdictionCode: "bg". Pass the name as companyName, a registration number as companyNumber, or both to narrow the result. Here companyNumber is read as uic.
Fields
To say exactly what you mean, send an advancedQuery instead. Bulgaria understands these fields:
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
name | Company name to search for. |
uic | Bulgarian UIC (Unified Identification Code / ЕИК), 9 or 13 digits. Search also accepts 8 digits and appends the deterministic check digit. |
Examples
{ "jurisdictionCode": "bg", "advancedQuery": { "uic": "831902088" }}Company identifiers
Search by passing the registration number as companyNumber — it is matched against the schemes this register can search on, so you do not name the scheme yourself. Not every scheme below is searchable; the rest label the values returned in a company’s identifiers.
| Identifier | Appears as | Format |
|---|---|---|
| Bulgarian UIC Number Bulgarian Unified Identification Code (ЕИК) - 9 to 13 digits | bg_uic_number | ^\d{9,13}$ |
| Sofia Legacy Company Case Number | bg_sofia_legacy_company_case_number | No fixed format |
Identifier notes
- When searching for a Bulgarian company by UIC, you don't need to already know the full checksummed number: providing just 8 digits is accepted and Kausate computes and appends the correct check digit automatically. A leading "BG" prefix on the identifier is also stripped automatically before the search runs.
Documents you can order
| Document | Order by | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Bulgarian Articles of Association Articles of association / constitutive deed (Учредителен акт / Устав / Дружествен договор) as filed with the Bulgarian Commercial Register. Returns the most recent statute-type filing for the company. | articles_of_association | Live |
| Bulgarian Document Download Document download from Bulgarian Commercial Register | A document ID from the list operation | Live |
| Bulgarian Financial Statements Annual financial statement (Годишен финансов отчет) as filed with the Bulgarian Commercial Register. Pass a kausateDocumentId to fetch a specific filing, or use the document code or the annual_accounts shortcut alone to fetch the most recent annual financial report. | annual_accounts | Live |
| Bulgarian Register Extract (Kausate) Kausate-generated PDF extract summarising the current registered state of a Bulgarian company from the Commercial Register (Търговски регистър), including representatives, board, capital, owners, procurators, and beneficial owners. | register_extract | Live |
Documents with a shortcut are ordered directly by that name — for example articles_of_association. The rest are filings whose availability differs per company: call list documents first and order the ID it returns.

Gotchas
| Trap | What happens |
|---|---|
| Struck-off ET loses its owner | A struck-off sole proprietorship (ET) shows no owner or legal representative — the register wipes those fields on erasure, and the owner isn't recoverable from the trading name. |
| Ownership without percentages | Multi-shareholder companies often show the shareholder's name but no ownership percentage — the register lists who owns the company, not how much. Single-owner companies (sole proprietorships, single-member LLCs) are recorded at 100%. |
| Joint-stock ownership not tracked | Joint-stock companies, including the real-estate-investment variant, generally aren't tracked for share ownership on the Commercial Register — expect empty shareholder data even for large, well-known companies. |
| UBO skips intermediate holdings | When ownership passes through an intermediate holding company, the beneficial-owner response includes only the top-level natural person — not the intermediate company or the full ownership chain. |
| Listed companies file no UBO | Companies whose shares trade on a regulated market are exempt from filing a beneficial-ownership declaration, so a publicly-traded company can correctly return zero beneficial owners. |
| Search is not exact | Name search is substring/prefix, not exact — a short or common term can return a full page of loosely related companies. Exact matches sort first; confirm a hit against its identifier before acting. |
Glossary
| Term | Meaning |
|---|---|
висш ръководен служител | Bulgarian for "senior managing official." This phrase can appear in the details of a beneficial-owner record when the company could not establish any natural person as its beneficial owner through ownership or voting control — in that case the filing names a senior manager as the beneficial owner of record instead. |
права на глас | Bulgarian for "voting rights." This phrase can appear in a beneficial-owner record's details when that person's control over the company is based on voting power rather than on directly owning shares or capital. |
