Company identifiers

Greece has no number-based search: find a company by name, then use the kausateId search returns. These schemes label the values that come back in a company’s identifiers.

IdentifierAppears asFormat
Greek GEMI Registration Number
G.E.MI. registration number (Αρ. Γ.Ε.ΜΗ) - 7 to 12 digit identifier
gr_ar_gemi^\d{7,12}$
Greek Tax ID (AFM)
Greek Tax Identification Number (ΑΦΜ) - 9-digit identifier
gr_afm^\d{9}$

Identifier notes

  • Greece's tax identifier (AFM) is not exclusively a company-level identifier: the same identifier type can appear on an individual partner within the ownership data, carrying that person's own tax ID rather than the company's. Before treating an AFM value as identifying the company itself, check whether it is attached to the company or to a person.

Statute Announcement
Official G.E.MI. statute announcement PDF for partnerships and LLCs (OE, EE, EPE, IKE) — the latest statute-amendment announcement, or the formation announcement-certificate (ΑΝΑΚΟΙΝΩΣΗ - ΒΕΒΑΙΩΣΗ ΣΥΣΤΑΣΗΣ) when no amendment has been filed. It lists the partners with names, tax IDs and percentages, which is what this document is for. Joint-stock companies (AE / SA) are not covered: their share register is private by law (L. 4548/2018), so their statute names no shareholders and an AE order is refused up front rather than returning a document with no ownership section. To obtain an AE statute itself, list the company's filings via POST /v2/companies/documents/list and order the statute-amendment filing by kausateDocumentId with GRGMDR.

Documents with a shortcut are ordered directly by that name — for example shareholders_list. The rest are filings whose availability differs per company: call list documents first and order the ID it returns.

Local notes

Gotchas

TrapWhat happens
AE share register is privateAE/ΑΕ companies (Greece's SA equivalent) return an empty shareholder result because Greek law keeps the AE share register private — even with a single shareholder.
Names in Greek scriptLegal names are returned in Greek script. A registered English name appears as a separate alternative name marked as a translation, not in the primary field, only when one is on file.
Bankruptcy and restructuring alikeBankruptcy and the separate, less severe restructuring-negotiation process both normalise to the same receivership status. Read the original status text, not the normalised one, to tell which applies.
