How to use Kausate in Czechia — what you can call, which identifiers it uses, and which documents you can order
New to the API? Start with the jurisdictions overview, which explains how ordering, identifiers and documents work everywhere.
Company data here comes directly from ARES - Administrativní registr ekonomických subjektů, ISIR - Insolvenční rejstřík and Obchodní rejstřík.
What you can call here
What each operation does is the same everywhere and is explained on the jurisdictions overview.

How to search
Start with company search and jurisdictionCode: "cz". Pass the name as companyName. Czechia accepts no generic number alias — the fields below are its own.
Fields
To say exactly what you mean, send an advancedQuery instead. Czechia understands these fields:
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
name | Company name to search for. |
includeDeletedboolean | Also return companies struck off the Commercial Register, which ARES no longer lists, from the register itself. |
Examples
{ "jurisdictionCode": "cz", "advancedQuery": { "name": "Skoda Auto" }}Czechia also accepts includeDeleted + name.
Company identifiers
Czechia has no number-based search: find a company by name, then use the kausateId search returns. These schemes label the values that come back in a company’s identifiers.
| Identifier | Appears as | Format |
|---|---|---|
| Czech IČO Czech company identification number (Identifikační číslo osoby) - 8 digits | cz_ico | ^\d{8}$ |
| Czech DIČ (Tax ID) Czech tax identification number (Daňové identifikační číslo) | cz_dic | ^CZ\d{8,10}$ |
| Commercial Register Entry | cz_commercial_register_entry | No fixed format |
Identifier notes
- The Czech company identifier (IČO) is an 8-digit number that Kausate always returns zero-padded — many real IČOs start with one or more leading zeros (for example, 00177041 for Škoda Auto). If any part of your pipeline parses it as a number instead of keeping it as a string, you will silently drop the leading zeros and end up with a value that no longer matches the register.
- For most Czech companies, the tax ID (DIČ) is not an independently assigned number — it is simply the literal prefix "CZ" followed by the same digits as the company's IČO. Don't build logic that treats the two as unrelated identifiers requiring cross-checks; for a standard VAT-registered company, a mismatch between them would itself be the anomaly worth investigating.
Documents you can order
| Document | Order by | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Czech Annual Report Annual report/financial statement from Czech Commercial Register | A document ID from the list operation | Live |
| Czech Current Extract Current company extract from Czech Commercial Register | register_extractregister_extract_officialshareholders_list | Live |
| Czech Full Extract Full historical extract from Czech Commercial Register | CZARFE | Live |
Documents with a shortcut are ordered directly by that name — for example register_extract. Those shown with a code have no cross-jurisdiction shortcut: order them by the code itself — for example CZARFE. The rest are filings whose availability differs per company: call list documents first and order the ID it returns.
Local notes
Gotchas
| Trap | What happens |
|---|---|
| Sole proprietors excluded | Sole proprietors and other self-employed individuals (fyzická osoba) that exist in the underlying Czech registry are deliberately excluded from search results, and Kausate cannot retrieve a company report or documents for one — only companies and other legal entities (s.r.o., a.s., cooperatives, associations, etc.) are covered, because sole proprietors sit in a separate register that carries no filed documents. If you search for or look up a self-employed individual by their IČO, expect a not-found result rather than a report. |
| a.s. ownership is sparse | Joint-stock company (a.s.) shareholder data is often sparse or empty — the register doesn't require full disclosure for a.s. like it does for s.r.o. Expect ownership percentages and capital contributions for s.r.o. partners; a.s. shareholders often just names. |
| Document labels partly translated | Document type labels translate to English when recognized; unrecognized ones (including many compound labels) pass through as original Czech text — treat this as best-effort, not a fixed set. |
| Free-text closure status | A dissolved or closing company's original-language status text may not be generic "zaniklý"/"vymazaný" — it can be a free-text phrase like "fúze" (merger), "úpadek" (insolvency), "přeměna" (transformation), or "v likvidaci" (liquidation). Write logic against the normalized status field, not this text. |
Glossary
| Term | Meaning |
|---|---|
jednatel | The statutory executive of a Czech s.r.o. (limited liability company) — equivalent to a managing director, and the role you'll typically see for whoever runs the company's day-to-day business. |
prokurista / prokura | A person (or the authority itself) holding "prokura" — a formal signing authority to act on the company's behalf, which Kausate reports as its own distinct role separate from director- or board-level positions. |
likvidátor | The liquidator appointed to wind up a company. Seeing this role listed means the company is in liquidation — actively being wound down — a stage that can precede, but is distinct from, final dissolution: Kausate's own status field keeps a company in liquidation marked as still active while it winds down. |
společník | A member/quota-holder of an s.r.o. This denotes an ownership stake, not a management position, even though it's listed alongside officer roles in the company's data. |
aktivní / zaniklý / vymazaný | The register's own status words: "aktivní" means active, while "zaniklý" and "vymazaný" both indicate the company has been dissolved or struck off the register. |
