How to search
Start with company search and jurisdictionCode: "us-nv". Pass the name as companyName, a registration number as companyNumber, or both to narrow the result. Here companyNumber is read as nvBusinessId.
Fields
To say exactly what you mean, send an advancedQuery instead. Nevada (US) understands these fields:
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
name | Entity name to search for. |
nvBusinessId | NV Business ID (e.g. NV2023...). |
entityNumber | NV entity (charter) number. |
Examples
{ "jurisdictionCode": "us-nv", "advancedQuery": { "nvBusinessId": "NV20232705429" }}Nevada (US) also accepts entityNumber.
Company identifiers
Search by passing the registration number as companyNumber — it is matched against the schemes this register can search on, so you do not name the scheme yourself. Not every scheme below is searchable; the rest label the values returned in a company’s identifiers.
| Identifier | Appears as | Format |
|---|---|---|
| NV Business ID Nevada Secretary of State NV Business ID — the uniform modern entity identifier (e.g. NV20232705429). Present on every Nevada business entity and directly searchable in the register. | us_nv_business_id | ^NV[0-9]{9,13}$ |
| NV Entity Number Nevada Secretary of State entity (charter) number — the legacy per-entity identifier whose format varies by era (e.g. E29709062023-4, LLC8779-2001, C9379-1994). Secondary to the NV Business ID. | us_nv_entity_number | ^[A-Za-z0-9-]+$ |

Local notes
Gotchas
| Trap | What happens |
|---|---|
| Agent sits with the officers | The legal representatives listed for a Nevada company are not limited to officers, managers, or members. Nevada requires every entity to designate a registered agent for service of process, and that agent — shown as a person or as a registered-agent company — appears in the same list alongside officers and managers, distinguished by its own role. Filter by role rather than assuming everyone listed runs the business. |
| 'Pending' still transacts | A "Pending" status (Cancellation, Conversion, Dissolution, Merger, Withdrawal) means the entity is winding down or changing form, but remains on file and able to transact until it takes effect. Treat as active, not dissolved. |
| Foreign entities have no code | A "Foreign" entity (formed outside Nevada, registered there) has no ISO 20275 legal form code — the code reflects where it was formed, not Nevada, so blank isn't missing data. |
Glossary
| Term | Meaning |
|---|---|
(##) chapter suffix on a Nevada entity type, e.g. "Domestic Limited-Liability Company (86)" | The number in parentheses after a Nevada entity type is the Nevada Revised Statutes (NRS) chapter that governs that entity type — it identifies the governing statute, not a filing number, a document version, or a sequence identifier. |
"Foreign" (e.g. "Foreign Corporation", "Foreign Limited-Liability Company") | In Nevada entity types, "Foreign" means the business was formed outside Nevada — in another US state or another country — and has simply registered to transact business in Nevada. It does not mean the business is foreign to the United States. |
