Georgia (US)
How to use Kausate in Georgia (US) — what you can call, which identifiers it uses, and which documents you can order
New to the API? Start with the jurisdictions overview, which explains how ordering, identifiers and documents work everywhere.
Company data here comes directly from Georgia Secretary of State — eCorp.
One of the jurisdictions under United States, whose page lists the others and covers the national register separately.

How to search
Start with company search and jurisdictionCode: "us-ga". Pass the name as companyName, a registration number as companyNumber, or both to narrow the result. Here companyNumber is read as controlNumber.
Fields
To say exactly what you mean, send an advancedQuery instead. Georgia (US) understands these fields:
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
name | Business name to search for. |
controlNumber | Georgia SoS control number to search for (e.g. 'J506758', '12001656'). |
Examples
{ "jurisdictionCode": "us-ga", "advancedQuery": { "name": "Aflac" }}Georgia (US) also accepts controlNumber.
Company identifiers
Search by passing the registration number as companyNumber — it is matched against the schemes this register can search on, so you do not name the scheme yourself. Not every scheme below is searchable; the rest label the values returned in a company’s identifiers.
| Identifier | Appears as | Format |
|---|---|---|
| GA Control Number Georgia Secretary of State business control number. Filings made before ~Aug 2013 carry a 7-character alphanumeric number with a leading letter (e.g. 'J506758', 'K115206'); later filings carry a 7-8 digit numeric number (e.g. '12001656', '24093151'). Stored uppercased, with no zero-padding. Note this is the public Control Number, not an internal reference the registry uses elsewhere. | us_ga_control_number | ^([A-Z0-9]{7}|[0-9]{7,8})$ |
Documents you can order
| Document | Status |

These are filings whose availability differs per company: call list documents first and order the ID it returns.
Local notes
Gotchas
| Trap | What happens |
|---|---|
| Sector label, never NAICS | Industry classification returns a plain-English sector label (e.g. "Finance and Insurance"), never a NAICS code. Legacy entities may instead carry a free-text business purpose, or no classification at all. |
| LLC people list is always empty | The register never collects LLC members or managers, so an LLC's people list is always empty. Only corporations and partnerships carry an officer or partner roster. |
| Agent type is inferred | The register doesn't state whether a registered agent is a person or a company — it's inferred from corporate-sounding words in the name ("Inc", "LLC", "Company"). A company agent without one can be typed as a person. |
| Placeholder addresses dropped | Addresses aren't validated, so source data sometimes has placeholder junk — a lone "." for the street, "00000" for the ZIP. These fields come back absent rather than showing the placeholder. |
| Search surfaces name filings | Name search can surface name reservations and trade-name filings alongside registered companies. These aren't incorporated entities and carry no legal form — not every result has a report. |
| Ownership permanently unavailable | The register collects no shareholder, LLC member/manager, or beneficial-ownership information. Treat ownership data as permanently unavailable, not a gap to be filled later. |
Glossary
| Term | Meaning |
|---|---|
Active/Noncompliance | The company is still active and legally able to trade — it's simply late filing its required annual registration. Georgia only moves a company to a dissolved status after the delinquency continues, so don't read this as an inactive or at-risk signal. |
Admin. Dissolved / Admin. Dissolved/Revoked | Two different spellings of the same outcome — the Secretary of State administratively dissolved the company for failing to file required paperwork. Treat both the same way. |
Flawed/Deficient | A filing was rejected for a defect. The company itself hasn't been dissolved, terminated, or revoked — it's just not in good standing. |
Under Investigation | The Secretary of State has flagged the company pending an investigation. The company stays active and remains on the register. |
LLLP (Limited Liability Limited Partnership) | A distinct Georgia partnership form — not the same as a plain Limited Partnership (LP) or Limited Liability Partnership (LLP). It's categorized as LP (it has limited partners, which an LLP doesn't) but carries no standardized legal-form code of its own, so don't substitute the plain LP code for it. |
