How to search
Start with company search and jurisdictionCode: "kr". Pass the name as companyName, a registration number as companyNumber, or both to narrow the result.
Fields
To say exactly what you mean, send an advancedQuery instead. South Korea understands these fields:
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
name | Company name, in Korean or English. |
companyNumber | One of: 8-digit DART corp_code, 10-digit NTS BRN, 13-digit IROS Corporate Registration Number |
Examples
{ "jurisdictionCode": "kr", "advancedQuery": { "name": "삼성전자" }}South Korea also accepts companyNumber.
Company identifiers
Search by passing the registration number as companyNumber — it is matched against the schemes this register can search on, so you do not name the scheme yourself. Not every scheme below is searchable; the rest label the values returned in a company’s identifiers.
| Identifier | Appears as | Format |
|---|---|---|
| DART Corp Code 8-digit corporation code assigned by Korea's DART system (Financial Supervisory Service); DART's internal join key | kr_dart_corp_code | ^\d{8}$ |
| Korean NTS BRN 10-digit Business Registration Number issued by the National Tax Service (NTS); customer-facing tax ID, returned by DART | kr_nts_brn | ^\d{10}$ |
| Korean Corporate Registration Number 13-digit Corporate Registration Number (법인등록번호) from the Supreme Court IROS registry | kr_corp_reg_no | ^\d{13}$ |
Identifier notes
- A Korean company always carries the 8-digit DART corporation code from the moment it's returned to you. The 10-digit National Tax Service Business Registration Number and the 13-digit Supreme Court Corporate Registration Number are optional enrichment fields that are only filled in after a company has been resolved by a direct lookup on its 8-digit DART code at least once — a company you've only found through a name search may still show neither of them.
Documents you can order
| Document | Status |
|---|---|
| Korea DART Disclosure Document Per-disclosure download from the Korean DART register (annual reports, semi-annual / quarterly filings, major event disclosures), delivered as a ZIP of the registry's XML / HTML. | Live |
These are filings whose availability differs per company: call list documents first and order the ID it returns.

Gotchas
| Trap | What happens |
|---|---|
| Three identifier types accepted | Korea's number-based company search accepts three different identifier types — the 8-digit DART code, the 10-digit tax registration number, or the 13-digit corporate registration number — through the same field. Which type a value is treated as is decided purely by how many digits are left after stripping hyphens and spaces, with no other validation. A value with an unintended digit count — from padding, truncation, or a stray leftover character — is silently evaluated as a different identifier type rather than being rejected, so validate the exact digit count of whatever you send. |
| Every executive is listed | The legal-representatives list includes every executive in the latest periodic filing — outside directors, non-executive directors, audit committee members, auditors — not just who has signing authority. Filter for "Representative Director / CEO" to find who can bind the company. |
| Capital is a share count | The "capital" figure is total issued shares, not a monetary amount — filings carry no paid-in capital figure. It's tagged with the KRW currency code but is a share count, not won. |
| Status only reflects a DART record | The status field on a full report reflects only whether DART holds a disclosure record, not whether the company trades — no active/dissolved flag exists, so it reads Active for nearly every filer. Check filing titles for dissolution, liquidation, or receivership instead. |
| Search never carries status | Live search results never carry a status value, by identifier or by name — always blank. Status is populated only on the full company report. |
| Headcount only on the latest period | In a financial statement, employee headcount is attached only to the most recent period — prior-year comparatives come back blank rather than repeating it; DART simply doesn't report headcount for those years. |
| Fixed set of titles translated | Only a fixed set of executive titles is translated to English — CEO/representative director, chairman, and various director and auditor titles. A less common title comes through in Korean only, untranslated. |
Glossary
| Term | Meaning |
|---|---|
사업보고서 | "Business report" — the title South Korean companies use for their annual disclosure filing, roughly equivalent to an annual report. You'll see this exact term inside a filing's title for Korea's yearly disclosures. |
반기보고서 | "Half-year report" — the title used for a Korean company's semi-annual disclosure filing. |
분기보고서 | "Quarterly report" — usually seen with a quarter-number prefix (e.g. "1분기보고서" for Q1, "3분기보고서" for Q3), this is the title used for a Korean company's quarterly disclosure filing. |
