Start with company search and jurisdictionCode: "ec". Pass the name as companyName, a registration number as companyNumber, or both to narrow the result. Here companyNumber is read as expediente.

Fields

To say exactly what you mean, send an advancedQuery instead. Ecuador understands these fields:

FieldWhat it does
nameCompany name to search for.
expedienteSupercias file number (expediente), 1–6 digits (e.g., '48232').
rucEcuador tax ID (R.U.C.), 13 numeric digits (e.g., '1791269780001').

Examples

{  "jurisdictionCode": "ec",  "advancedQuery": {    "expediente": "48232"  }}

Ecuador also accepts ruc.

Company identifiers

Search by passing the registration number as companyNumber — it is matched against the schemes this register can search on, so you do not name the scheme yourself. Not every scheme below is searchable; the rest label the values returned in a company’s identifiers.

IdentifierAppears asFormat
Expediente
Supercias file number (expediente)
ec_expediente^\d{1,6}$
Cédula de identidad
Ecuadorian national identity card number for a natural person - 10 digits: a province code (01-24, or 30 for Ecuadorians abroad), a third digit below 6, six sequence digits and a modulo-10 check digit
ec_cedula^\d{10}$
R.U.C.
Ecuador tax identification number (Registro Único de Contribuyentes)
ec_ruc^\d{13}$

Identifier notes

  • When a shareholder or beneficial owner is a foreign company, Ecuador's registry doesn't issue it a R.U.C. Supercias assigns its own reference code instead, in a different format (for example, SE-Q-00002013) that won't match the 13-digit R.U.C. pattern used elsewhere in this jurisdiction. Treat that code as the register's own reference for the entity, not as a national tax ID.

Documents you can order

Nothing can be ordered in Ecuador yet. These are the documents the register will expose once they are live.

Gotchas

TrapWhat happens
Expediente instead of R.U.C.Some older-registered companies have only a file number (expediente) on file, no tax ID at all. Key matching or display logic on expediente presence, not R.U.C.
Individuals carry no ID numberIndividual shareholder and beneficial-owner entries carry only name and nationality — no ID number, unlike corporate shareholders in the same list. There's no register-issued number to match people on.

Glossary

TermMeaning
NACIONALAppears in the interestDetails field of a shareholder or beneficial-owner entry to mark the holding as domestic investment, held by an Ecuadorian party.
