How to use Kausate in Canada — what you can call, and which identifiers it uses
New to the API? Start with the jurisdictions overview, which explains how ordering, identifiers and documents work everywhere.

How to search
Start with company search and jurisdictionCode: "ca". Pass the name as companyName, a registration number as companyNumber, or both to narrow the result. Here companyNumber is read as corporationNumber.
Fields
To say exactly what you mean, send an advancedQuery instead. Canada understands these fields:
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
name | Corporate name to search for. Matching is whole-word, case-insensitive and AND-ed across tokens — not a prefix match, so a partial word returns nothing. |
corporationNumber | Corporations Canada federal corporation number, e.g. '9346929'. The hyphen the register displays before the final digit ('934692-9') is accepted and removed. |
businessNumber | Nine-digit CRA Business Number, e.g. '815561964'. Distinct from the corporation number and from the 15-character CRA program account. |
Examples
{ "jurisdictionCode": "ca", "advancedQuery": { "name": "Kepler Technologies" }}Canada also accepts corporationNumber and businessNumber.
Company identifiers
Search by passing the registration number as companyNumber — it is matched against the schemes this register can search on, so you do not name the scheme yourself. Not every scheme below is searchable; the rest label the values returned in a company’s identifiers.
| Identifier | Appears as | Format |
|---|---|---|
| Canadian Business Number (BN) | ca_business_number | No fixed format |
| Canadian CRA Program Account Number | ca_cra_program_account_number | No fixed format |
| Canadian Federal Corporation Number | ca_federal_corporation_number | No fixed format |
Documents you can order
Nothing can be ordered in Canada yet. These are the documents the register will expose once they are live.
| Document | Status |
|---|---|
| Canada Corporate Document A certificate or filing held by Corporations Canada for a federal corporation — certificates of incorporation, amendment, continuance, amalgamation, revival, dissolution and intent to dissolve, not-for-profit by-laws and not-for-profit financial statements. Corporations Canada issues copies only through an asynchronous ordering channel that emails a download link, so these documents are listed for discovery but cannot yet be ordered automatically. | Coming soon |
